To begin understanding what the New Testament says about heaven and hell it is important to understand the Parable of the Sower. There are four types of hearts that react to the word of God: hard hearts that reject the word, shallow hearts with a superficial relationship, strangled hearts that are shut off and choked out by the things this world cares about, and open hearts. Those with open hearts, who hear, who understand, keep studying the word, and keep trusting God are the ones who will bring forth fruit and make it into the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 13:1-23
